LIFE

I realised the other day that life is always there to test you, make you stronger and more resilient than the day or week or month before.

I just recently experienced something like that - a hardship that was both an eye opener and imparting of knowledge.

I realised later the next morning that what seemed to be a lecture was actually something I needed to talk to about with my parents and now I feel happier for it. I may not have agreed with them at the time but after I some reflection, I do.

My best advice for anyone that thinks that their parents/gaurdians don't understand you - they actually do to some extent. They were teenagers/young adults once and their life experiences far out way our own.

But sometimes...we need to live and make our own mistakes. We need to go out and party and have fun...being a teenager in college/varsity and just having a blast!

Sometimes I think to myself that not everything revolves around being the centre of attention - sometimes being unnoticed and semi-invisable helps to gain observation and insight to certain things and maybe - just maybe - help us understand and maybe teaches us how to deal with situations that may seem unavoidable.

In conclusion - learn from life and take any and all wisdom imparted to heart and mind. It might save your life one day!

Winter at the Vaal Dam

This weekend signals the first weekend of winter here at the vaal dam.

I arrived here last night in the middle of a storm and the water was producing lovely white horses-perfect for sailing  my hobi cat 18ft!
This morning is filled with plenty of sunshine but a bitting wind so the choice of summer shirts but winter jackets is in debate. The birds are singing, the sun is shining and its a brillent day for windsurfing and sailing - in nice, warm wetsuits of course!

Only 6 weeks of training!!!

After only 6 weeks of training my mare, Longbow, is ready to compete at barrels.

We ran barrels today and got a time of 18 seconds...two minutes slower than a pro!

Im so proud of her and would like to thank Sue Mesa, my riding instructor, for he continued support in both my western and dressage abilities.

Hope i will be able to compete sometime next month but first my dressage show is on sunday, 15 feb, and i hope toget a score of atleast 69-70%

Today was my very first western lesson! I did basic reining, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Cant wait for my very first barrel racing competition.
If anyone does reining or barrels, words of advice are welcome.

Gym

Today I nearly died at the gym. I've spent a whole month slacking off on body con and now I payed for it.

Word of advice...never let your body con slak its a killer when you go back to gym!

PARTY!!!

This Friday I'm hosting a get-together with my friends from school, it's just an informal evening but a chance for us to all be gathered before we separate and head to our different Universities or colleges for the next few years.

There is going to be a three course meal with milk tart shooters for a late night liqueur...this is going to be the first time I'm cooking for such a event and so many people, though the chef in me is beside herself with anticipation!

They say that your friends from school don't always stay with you in your future...but the ones found in Uni/College will be your true friends - can't say it's true, but then why do we lose contact with our fellow schoolmates?

What's your opinions..

Back to Civilisation!!!!

Just came back home after a month at the Vaal Dam...isolated from civilisation unless you are willing to drive 20 minutes to the nearest town.

My puppy, Noobie, didn't let me out of her sight! It took me an hour to calm her down and even then she spent the whole night patrolling my bed every time I moved! she was so afraid that I'd disappear off again.

I'm ready for shows and competitions this year with my horse Highborn Noel Rouge. I can't wait to enter my first show on the 15 Feb, hopefully we won't do too badly - as we will only start work a week before hand.
The horse with the white spot on his head is Rouge.

I hope this year will reap the rewards of taking a year off of competing to work on Rouge and improve his Dressage and Jumping abilities.
